Atypical is a coming-of-age television series created by Robia Rashid for Netflix. It focuses on the life of 18-year-old Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist), who is on the autism spectrum. The first season was released on August 11, 2017, consisting of eight episodes. The ten-episode second season was released on September 7, 2018. In October 2018, the series was renewed for a third season of ten episodes, which was released on November 1, 2019.

First off this is like something I have never seen before. It’s a show about the everyday life of a family with an 18 year old boy with autism. Not the extreme kind, but the kind that makes it just bearable for him to go to school and keep a part time job - and wanting girls (Oh Yea).

I guarantee you will be enamored over the characters in this series from the very first series and it grows on you to the point where you can’t stop watching. With 30 minute episodes you can binge thru this in nothing flat, that’s the good news. Speaking from one that’s watched all 3 seasons……….I truly wished there was more.

Kudos to the writers and actors for portraying a "normal" family with such real challenges given their situation, in such a realistic and amazing way. Nothing is overly exaggerated and it’s far more realistic and very touching.

It's nice that there is finally a well written series starring a kid with autism, great cast of actors, great story lines and well thought out.

What more can I say - be sure and watch the trailer then……..watch the series.

I truly believe you will love it!
