This series, originally broadcast on HBO, tells the story of Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. Based on interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as soldiers' journals and letters, this 10-part series chronicles the experiences of these young men who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear.

Band of Brothers is a 2001 American war drama miniseries based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's 1992 non-fiction book of the same name. The executive producers were Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who also collaborated on the 1998 World War II film Saving Private Ryan and the 2010 World War II miniseries The Pacific. The episodes first aired on HBO, starting on September 9, 2001. The series won Emmy and Golden Globe awards in 2001 for best miniseries.

The series dramatizes the history of "Easy" Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, of the 101st Airborne Division, from jump training in the United States through its participation in major actions in Europe, up until Japan's capitulation and the end of World War II. The events are based on Ambrose's research and recorded interviews with Easy Company veterans. The series took some literary license, adapting history for dramatic effect and series structure. The characters portrayed are based on members of Easy Company. Some of the men were recorded in contemporary interviews, which viewers see as preludes to several episodes, with the men's real identities revealed in the finale.

For those of you that have already watched this, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. As for me….. I can honestly say this miniseries was one of the best accounts of the galant men that fought bravely in the European campaign of WWII. It’s everything Saving Private Ryan was, as well as everything it wasn't.

If you're a fan of war time stories and "army" movies as I am, this is hands down the best of the best. All the actors do and excellent job at playing the roles appropriately and making one believe the hell these men were put through.

"Band of Brothers" is a story that could only be told in a mini-series. They do an excellent at bringing the series to closure, one that will make this unforgettable.

It clearly shows that war really is hell.
