Netflix Original Series Review: “Bodyguard". Critics gave it a 94% the users an 84%. Rated: TV-MA with Season 1 consisting of 6 one hour episodes IMDb of 8.2/10Cast: Richard Madden, Keeley Hawes, Gina McKee, Sophie Rundle, Paul Ready, Vincent Franklin, Stuart Bowman, Nina Toussaint-White, Stephanie Hyam, & Tom Brooke.

The series is set around the fictional character of Police Sergeant David Budd, a heroic British Army war-veteran suffering from PTSD, who is now working as a specialist protection officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London's Metropolitan Police Service. He is assigned to protect the ambitious Home Secretary Julia Montague, whose politics stand for everything he despises.

Bodyguard is a British television drama series, created and written by Jed Mercurio and produced by World Productions for the BBC. The six-part series stars Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes. The series began broadcasting on BBC One on 26 August 2018, achieving the highest viewing figures for a new BBC drama in the multichannel era and the highest BBC viewing figures since 2008.

This has to be one of the best from the BBC in a while, Bodyguard leaves you with no fingernails after 20 minutes of the first episode, and you'll be craving the next episode as soon as the one you're watching ends. Binging through 6 episodes is relatively easy so you probably want to start on a Friday night and finish on Saturday afternoon, it’s that addicting.

The tension is far more believable as this drama is circulated around the times of today with terror attacks imminent and frequent on the streets of the UK, as most of us can remember seeing a situation like this unfold on the news in recent years.

Every shot leaves you wondering just what is going on inside of the characters heads, and stomach churning moments of realisation during the storyline gives you a feeling like no other.

Some might say it reeks of propaganda but don’t get hung up on the political views and just enjoy a damn good gritty drama! Keely Hawes is a class act and does not disappoint but top marks to her 'Bodyguard' (played by Richard Madden or as you may know him as Rob Stark of GoT’s).

Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend - well done to the BBC. Now bring on Season 2!!
