Heidi Bergman is a caseworker at Homecoming, a facility that helps soldiers transition back to civilian life. She leaves Homecoming to start a new life living with her mother and working as a small-town waitress. Years later, the Department of Defense questions why she left, which makes Heidi realize that there's a whole other story behind the one that she's been telling herself. Oscar winner Julia Roberts stars as Heidi in the first regular TV series role of her career.

Homecoming is an American psychological thriller web television series, based on the podcast of the same name created by Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, that premiered on November 2, 2018 on Amazon Video. The series was created by Horowitz and Bloomberg who also served as writers and executive produced alongside Sam Esmail, Chad Hamilton, Julia Roberts, Alex Blumberg, Matt Lieber, and Chris Gilibert. Esmail also directed every episode of the series.

Just finished all 10 episodes. I absolutely loved it. Great acting. Loved seeing Julia Roberts in a non-glamorous role. Although it was slow passed in the beginning, after the 3 episode it picks and by the 5th you are hooked……..“barb in the lip”. Take it from me don’t stop watching you will really miss out on an Excellent!!!!!! series.

Julia Roberts and Stephan James act beautifully together in this Twilight Zone feel series. Half hour segments which flip between small screen in the present and large screen in the past. Typical Esmail filming where the shots and scenes are often stylistic. This show also has substance, exploring the manipulation of soldiers returning to the states and needing relief from PTSD. But the story focuses on characters over the horror. And my favorite part was the beautiful relationship between Heidi Bergman and Walter Cruz. Homecoming has an excellent musical score. He nails emotion and makes the viewer 'feel'. Enjoyed every bit of Homecoming.
