Into the Badlands

Netflix/AMC Users: "Into the Badlands". This series started on the cable channel AMC.  I watched seasons 1 & 2 (16 episodes) on Netflix and currently watching season 3 on-demand AMC Channel (WAY TOO many commercials on AMC).  It hasn't hit Netflix yet (no commercials). The critics rated it a 77% with the users giving it a 96%. It has an IMDb rating of 8.1/10.

AMC's goal for "Into the Badlands" was twofold: produce a compelling character drama, and introduce the highest caliber of martial arts filmmaking to a weekly, ongoing series.

Left in the hands of creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar ("Shanghai Noon," "Smallville"), the series stars Daniel Wu as ruthless skilled warrior Sunny, who mentors teenage boy M.K. during a spiritual journey across a feudal civilization known as the Badlands.

With the help of trained assassins like Sunny, the area is ruled by rival barons, and for decades Quinn (played by Marton Csokas) has consistently outflanked and outmaneuvered his fellow barons to keep the upper hand. His invincibility, however, begins to fade in light of brazen attacks by the newest baron, The Widow (played by Emily Beecham) , who believes M.K. (played by Aramis Knight) is the key to her success.

Although I'm not much martial arts movies, this series has managed to peak my interests to the point that I am 20 episodes in and find myself wanting more.

I'll warn you it has an intense amount of fight scenes with very graphic bloody outcomes (not for the faint of heart).  If you are the kind that enjoys a good shoot'em up bang bang using only blades and NO GUNS, you'll love this.

There are plenty of surprises in the story line that keep you very curious to see what's in store next.
