Love and Monsters is a 2020 American monster adventure film directed by Michael Matthews, with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen serving as producers. Love and Monsters was originally going to receive a wide theatrical release by Paramount Pictures in February 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the studio opted to release the film digitally via video on demand, and in select theaters, on October 16, 2020. The film received positive reviews from critics and users. At the 93rd Academy Awards, the film was nominated for Best Visual Effects.

Right up front let me say this film caught my eye because of the critic and users ratings. Was not suer what I was getting into, however I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed this film. This is the perfect “PG-13 Family Night” film for parents and kids, they will love it.

The film is funny and the action is great. The monsters are also really cool. The dog is a badass. This is also a perfect film for a sequel, with more characters and world-building stuff like that.

I’m sure it wasn’t the most expensive movie, but honestly watching this movie gave me flashbacks to the good old days of family adventure movies. It has adventure, humor, love, companionship and it keeps you wanting to learn more about the world.

It’s a great “feel good” film. If you have young kids ages 5 and up, don’t miss the opportunity to see this movie! Check out the trailer you’ll see what I mean.
