Killers of the Flower Moon
Heads up right out the gate - this movie is 3 hrs and 26 mins long. Can’t remember when I sat thru one this long!
Was it worth it - for me it was because I’m always interested in historic fact base stories, and this one was chock full of info.
“Strong acting, gorgeous cinematography, and a powerful story keep Killers of the Flower Moon engrossing in spite of its slower pace and extreme length.”
Another Scorsese master piece. Only complaint I have is with the slow passed death by a thousand cuts of atrocious, systemic murders against a race of people thats troubling when it's out in the open.
As you watch this you can’t help but think how many times similar cases might've happened with indigenous populations all over the world.
Keep in mind that a film about a series of real-life killings committed by greedy people against indigenous people was never going to be easygoing. However it's the execution here that counts. It disturbs and creeps up on you in ways that are difficult to anticipate or prepare for.
After watching 3 hours and 20+ minutes of the film the final act takes a turn that summarizes the film in short detail. The very last shot is both brilliant, and helped the film end on a powerful note.
Thank goodness this story is preserved through the medium of film. With that said future generations will be able to watch it back and learn about the horrific events that took place during this time period.
Something to take away…….”those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.
Be sure and watch the informational video after the trailer below - its good background information before you see the film!
