Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (also known as Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker) is a 2019 American epic space-opera film produced, co-written, and directed by J. J. Abrams. It is the third installment of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, following The Force Awakens (2015) and The Last Jedi (2017), and concludes the nine-part "Skywalker saga".[a] It was produced by Lucasfilm and Abrams's production company Bad Robot Productions, and was distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The Rise of Skywalker had its world premiere in Los Angeles on December 16, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States on December 20, 2019. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising the special effects, musical score, and celebration of the entire saga.
To me this episode was the better of the new sequel trilogy. Definitely if you are a fan my recommendation is go and see it.. It redeems the sequel trilogy and ties it all together with respect to the Skywalker Saga. Finally previous sequels make sense as they tie it all together for us in this episode.
Visually this was stunning with the definition of how a space movie should look. The planet that's so important in the plot is simply incredible. A bit of “heads up” for your young children…… the final sequences inside the ancient temple were overwhelming, dark and even scary. Abrams did a great job here, we get to finally feel what it means to deal with the Sith. There are some interesting twists in the film along with some very humorous ones.
This movie moves pretty fast so you need to stay focused. It's as if Abrams finally understood what needed to be done and did a good job of tying everything together with this one film.
I am a big fan of Star Wars - seen every episode from the very beginning multiple times so for me this was just another notch on my science fiction belt. No regrets, enjoyed watching and finally getting all the blanks filled in.
Definitely worth seeing at the theater and watch it on IMAX for sure!!
