Movie 🎥 Review: “Stuber”. Critics gave it a 47% the users an 82%. Rated: R with a running time of 1 hr and 33 mins with an IMDb of 6.0/10. Cast: Kumail Nanjiani, Dave Bautista, Iko Uwais, Natalie Morales, Betty Gilpin, Jimmy Tatro, Mira Sorvino and Karen Gillan.

When a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) picks up a passenger (Dave Bautista) who turns out to be a cop hot on the trail of a brutal killer, he’s thrust into a harrowing ordeal where he desperately tries to hold onto his wits, his life and his five-star rating.

The film had its world premiere at South by Southwest on March 13, 2019 and is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on July 12, 2019. Produced by 20th Century Fox, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, making it the first R-rated film to be distributed by Disney since The Fifth Estate (2013). The film received mixed reviews from critics, who criticized it for not taking full advantage of its potential but praised Nanjiani and Bautista's chemistry.

Well I was in for a funny movie, however I wasn’t planning on it being a stupid funny movie. There ARE funny gags here and there and decent moments - but overall the narrative is clunky and coarse. Probably could have used more polishing before premiering on the big screen (hence the critics 47% rating). It starts out with a really good chase scene and the moment that Dave Bautista gets into the Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) electric car you begin to realize this is NOT going to be what you were led to think by the trailers.

The secondary characters were haphazard, and many were not at all fitted into the Big Story. Certainly no sense of an ensemble. I actively ignored the quality of the movie, and just sat back and enjoyed the funny parts, putting aside the awkward ones (hence the users rating of 82%).

Also in case you’re wondering, yes, this is one of those movies where many of the jokes are in the assorted trailers that are over advertising this film. So if you ask me I would say its not a bad film, its just one that you want to wait for it to come out On-Demand, NetFlix, or Prime to watch for free.
