Hundreds of years in the future, things are different than what we are used to after humans have colonized the solar system and Mars has become an independent military power. Rising tensions between Earth and Mars have put them on the brink of war. Against this backdrop, a hardened detective and a rogue ship's captain come together to investigate the case of a missing young woman. The investigation leads them on a race across the solar system that could expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.

The Expanse is an American science fiction television series developed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, based on the series of novels of the same name by James S. A. Corey. The series is set in a future where humanity has colonized the Solar System. It follows a disparate band of antiheroes – United Nations Security Council member Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo), police detective Josephus Miller (Thomas Jane), ship's officer James Holden (Steven Strait) and his crew – as they unwittingly unravel and place themselves at the center of a conspiracy which threatens the system's fragile state of Cold War–like peace, the class balance, and the survival of humanity.

The Expanse has received critical acclaim, with particular praise for its visuals, character development and political narrative. It received a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and three Saturn Award nominations for Best Science Fiction Television Series. Alcon Entertainment produces and finances the series. It sold three seasons to Syfy, which canceled the series in May 2018. Amazon Prime Video picked up the series for a fourth season, which was released on December 12, 2019. On July 27, 2019, Amazon renewed The Expanse for a fifth season around December 2020.

I am a huge Sci-fi fan - watched ever Star Trek, Star Wars moves many time over. So when this was recommended to me that I might enjoy it, I immediately started watching. I binged the entire 4 Seasons (40+ hours) in just a few days. Absolutely hooked. It's rare to find a sci-fi show these days that has a good storyline along with a perfectly chosen cast.

I want to watch is a great sci-fi story that seriously takes into consideration the effect of technology on the world around us, and intelligently explores the possible futures of humanity. I'm also interested by stories that consider the social issues of an alternative world shaped by different forces e.g. what would happen if, say, people lived on different planets, or if water was scarce, or if you had to live in 0g all your life.

This series story has so many paths and yet there is an ever present danger looming throughout the episodes that keeps you glued to know what coming next. You can’t imagine what you are about to see in this series. I had a hard time breaking away from it and some nights I didn’t quit watching till 5am. CGI is great, music is spot on and the acting was well done.

So if you are a Sci-Fi geek like I am, don’t miss this. I can’t wait till Season 5 comes.
