Wind River is a 2017 neo-Western murder mystery film written and directed by Taylor Sheridan. Sheridan has said that he wrote the film to raise awareness of the issue of the high number of Indigenous women who are raped and murdered, both on and off reservations.

The film premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and was released in the United States on August 4, 2017. It received generally positive reviews from critics and was a box office success, grossing $45 million against an $11 million budget.

It goes without saying that given the story line it can be hard to watch at times with a quality of the source material and a wonderful and sad plot, including plenty of twists and turns. Murder mystery and thriller fans will enjoy!

Even as brutal as it is, it’s also a well done movie that will keep you intrigued right to the very end. It’s truly a gripping, engaging and dramatic film. Amazing quality of the production, good acting and meticulously filmed.

The film also had several big moments, one that will make you empathize with the victim's family, leaving you taken a back as a big fight occurs.
