Bird Box is a 2018 American post-apocalyptic thriller film directed by Susanne Bier from a screenplay written by Eric Heisserer, based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Josh Malerman. The film follows a woman, played by Sandra Bullock, who, along with a pair of children, dubbed Boy and Girl, must make it through a forest and river blindfolded to avoid supernatural entities which cause people who see them to die by suicide. Bird Box had its world premiere at AFI Fest on November 12, 2018, and began a limited release on December 14, before streaming worldwide on Netflix on December 21, 2018.
The trailer felt a bit casual but the plot seemed really interesting. So I decided to give it try and although I enjoyed the movie there are a LOT of negative comments fro the users on this one.
Bullock carries this movie as a tough survivor, mom, and overall caretaker. I think the main problem people might have with the movie is we can't really relate to what is making people react the way they do. Are they going insane? Possessed? It’s open to interpretation. Overall, this movie provides plenty of suspense whether it's from the interaction of the survivors or outside chases.
You’ll find yourself wanting to see what everyone is seeing, however spoiler alert the movie does not give it away. It’s mind blowing at times, very tense and in some scenes a little cheesy.
Netflix is pushing this hard ……….. to me it wasn’t bad, lots of thought provoking curiosity that will keep you intrigued.
If you’re looking for a night of post-apocalyptic suspense……..this will definitely deliver!
