First Man, the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost on Armstrong and on the nation of one of the most dangerous missions in history.

“First Man” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 29, 2018, and was released in the United States on October 12, 2018, by Universal Pictures. The film received praise for Gosling and Foy's performances and Chazelle's direction, as well as the moon landing sequence.

For me as a child my father was totally immersed in the race for space/moon, saving ever news paper front page headline that he could. So I literally live it with him as far back as I could remember. I was 19 years old when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon and I remember it like it was yesterday. It’s been estimated that 400,000,000 people around the world watch the “First Man” take that first step.

Going to the moon has to be one of the single most iconic events in the history of mankind. This movie is so immersed in its intense in-your-face melting-metal authenticity that it makes a space drama like "Apollo 13" look like a puppet show……no comparison.

They do an amazing job exploring the balance between Armstrong’s work and home life. For all of us that lived this experience we only received the news photos and the media’s take on what they wanted the public to know.

This movie does a phenomenal job of bringing to light the details behind the television and media that make this move one to see and remember.

I was drawn into this film from the first second to the final minutes. It was designed and filmed to have the audience feel first hand what it’s like to have to climb into a claustrophobic capsule and blast off the face of the earth at speeds that very few will ever come to know.

So if you live this or aspire to NASA’s space endeavors this is the movie for you.
