The true story of Pfc. Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who won the Congressional Medal of Honor despite refusing to bear arms during WWII on religious grounds. Doss was drafted and ostracized by fellow soldiers for his pacifist stance but went on to earn respect and adoration for his bravery, selflessness and compassion after he risked his life without firing a shot to save 75 men in the Battle of Okinawa.
The 2016 film took many awards with the likes of Academy Award Best Sound Mixing; Academy Award Best Film Mixing; Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Action Film & Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Actor in an Action Film just to name a few.....the list goes on and on.
This was one of the most amazing war movies I've ever seen. This movie covers a topic that no other movie has dared to go. I used to think that "Saving Private Ryan" was my favorite all time. But this one proven to be as good and in some cases way better. The tribute at the end was worth seeing the movie alone. Everyone in the theater gave a loud round of applause when it was over.
If you are in the mood for a war movie I highly recommend you watch this......it a very compelling and raw movie with some very hard to watch scenes.
