Overlord

Movie 🎥 Review: “Overlord". Critics gave it a 78% the users an 85%. Rated: PG R with a running time of 1hr and 41mins with an IMDb of 7.1/10. Cast: Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Mathilde Ollivier, John Magaro, Gianny Taufer, Pilou Asbæk, and Bokeem Woodbine.

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers drop behind enemy lines to penetrate the walls of a fortified church and destroy a radio transmitter. As the soldiers approach their target, they soon begin to realize that there's more going on in the Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. Making their way to an underground lab, the outnumbered men stumble upon a sinister experiment that forces them into a vicious battle against an army of the undead.

Overlord is a 2018 American war horror film directed by Julius Avery and written by Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith. The film was produced by J. J. Abrams, through his Bad Robot Productions banner, and Lindsey Weber.

While both zombie movies and WWII period films are overdone, Overlord still manages to have some fun. It lopes along in the first half then explodes in the second half of the film.

The soundtrack is immense, the cinematography is brooding without being dark and the CGI special effects are very convincing. Don't expect great things from the script but I think this film will go down as one of the great zombie films of recent years, and may even be noted for its even better turn as a war film.

It was definitely an interesting match up, or should I say mash-up and I really enjoyed it.
