Heads up….this is a very deep, thought provoking and fascinating existential journey that shows a pensive sadness of unity between the living and the dead.
Cinematography is amazing coupled with Robin Wright's expert direction, for her first helming, never lets us forget that our humanity, and the need to connect with it, will never leave us. This was not evident in the beginning of this film, however as the film moves on you begin to realize this very important fact!
This is a minimalistic film, but it offers the viewer realistic details of the harsh life that Edee has chosen. The characters are sympathetic, and they make you care about them. Get ready to be exhilarated by a story about exile that doesn't work.
Land is beautiful, harrowing, and ultimately rewarding. It can be found on HBO, HBO Max and Hulu
p.s. you’ll more than likely be humming the song "Everybody wants to rule the world" (Tears for Fears) in your head before the movie is over…….:))
