Apocalypse Now Redux is a 2001 American extended version of Francis Ford Coppola's epic 1979 war film Apocalypse Now. Coppola, along with editor/longtime collaborator Walter Murch, added 49 minutes of material that had been removed from the original film. It represents a significant re-edit of the original version.
I was 29 years old when this film came to the theaters and I was blown away with this film and had NEVER seen anything like at that time. Since then I’ve only rewatched it twice prior to the Redux. So for the second time I was blown away at the re-edit of the quality of the film, color, sound and additional content. 3 hours and 15 minutes is a L O N G time for a movie. This film captivated me from start till end. The superb direction and cinematography are complemented by the music, settings and acting. The result is a visionary masterpiece. Considered one of the greatest films of all time.
If you’ve never seen this war film you are truly missing out, if you have you’re in for a real treat with the REDUX version - worth the time invested to watch again. I rate this a 10/10!
