Netflix Series Review: “Travelers". Users average over the 3 Season was a 97%. Rated: TV-MA with 3 Seasons consisting of ~thirteen 45 min episodes/season and an IMDb of 8.2/10Cast: Eric McCormack, Mackenzie Porter, Jared Abrahamson, Nesta Cooper, Reilly Dolman, and Patrick Gilmore.

Hundreds of years in the future, the last surviving humans discover a way of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century -- "travelers," who assume the lives of seemingly random people. They're also secretly working as teams to perform missions in order to save humanity from a terrible future. Armed only with their knowledge of history and an archive of social media profiles, the travelers -- who include an FBI agent, a single mother and a college student -- discover that 21st-century relationships are as much of a challenge as their high-stakes missions.

The series was an international co-production between streaming service Netflix and Canadian specialty channel Showcase for its first two seasons, after which Netflix took over as its sole production company and exclusive worldwide distributor. The show premiered in Canada on October 17, 2016, and worldwide on December 23, 2016. A second season followed in 2017, and a third season was released on December 14, 2018.

This is a unique show, different from other time travel scenarios, in the way it is written, acted, and how well it's produced. One of the strong points of this show is that it isn't overly ambitious, or scientific. It's very much grounded in the present and our reality, which I'm personally grateful for. There aren't any mustache twirling villains, mad scientists or shady billionaires either. The characters are youthful and relatable, played by a very promising ensemble of Canadian actors. The premise is refreshingly original, utilizing the idea of souls traveling back in time and hosting human vessels rather than the physical act of time-traveling (there's no cheesy time machines here). Grant MacLaren (played by Eric McCormack) rounds out the group as a much-needed older authoritative figure.

There is a Realness to the plot/episodes that manages to transcend the lack of technical effects, which lets the viewer's imagination do some of the best work. I am so hooked on seeing what happens that I can’t wait to watch more and more. I’ve only finished the first season and heading into the second. Glad to know there are many more episodes to watch……I love this show!!
