But their master plan is about to be derailed when one of the hunted, Crystal, turns the tables on her pursuers.

The Hunt is a 2020 American film, variously described as a horror, satire, or thriller, directed by Craig Zobel and written by Nick Cuse and Damon Lindelof. Jason Blum serves as a producer under his Blumhouse Productions banner, along with Lindelof. Both Zobel and Lindelof have said that the film serves as a satire on the profound political divide between the American left and right. The film was originally scheduled for release on September 27, 2019. However, following the Dayton and El Paso mass shootings in early August 2019, Universal Pictures decided to delay the release of the film. The Hunt was theatrically released in the United States on March 13, 2020 and streaming platforms early on March 20. It has received mixed reviews from critics and has grossed $6 million.

So let me say up front you are in for one of most violent, bloody and politically charged movies I’ve ever seen. I can see now why the release date of this film was delayed when its subject matter was deemed controversial, even scandalous.

The film's marketing slogan became, "The most talked about movie of the year is one that no one's actually seen." As a result the lure toward this film earned them a mere $6 million (note the ratings and the IMDb). In fact the director manages to deliver the least controversial, non-polarizing film of the year. It basically laughs at extremes on the left and right, and reminds us how laughing at something can often take away its power.

And regardless of your "side", you'll find some laughs here, if you can deal with the killing.

Be sure and watch the trailer - You’ve been warned!

p.s. FYI for those of you that know this is only out in the theaters and due to self-isolation from COVID-19, I was able to rent this on Amazon Prime and watched in the safety of my living room.
