No Sudden Move is a 2021 American period crime thriller film directed, photographed, and edited by Steven Soderbergh, produced by Casey Silver, and written by Ed Solomon.
The film had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 18, 2021, and was released in the United States on July 1, 2021, by HBO Max. The film received positive reviews from critics, with praise for Soderbergh's direction and the performances of the cast.
I’m letting you know right up front this film pacing can be off at times, however I recommend you stick with it. Keep in mind it’s another Soderbergh heist movie. It may now blow you away, but its cast it great and the direction makes it fairly entertaining.
Soderbergh’s use of a fish eye lens shooting this film was a bit of an oddity and can be somewhat distracting at times. I found it at times a bit too convoluted. However Soderbergh knows how to film these types of movies though and his signature kinetic style and he keeps things moving at a moderate pace.
If you have HBO MAX already in your choice of streaming services - I recommend you spend the time to watch this film.
